My obsession with limited edition cushions resulted in way too many orders this month! I posted about my RoseRoseShop haul last week, which I placed to get my hands on the Doraemon X Apieu cushions. This week, I’m posting pics from my Testerkorea haul, which I placed to get the Etude House X Sungsil Hwarang Sandcat cushion.
To be honest (tangent ahead), I’ve been pretty bummed about the performance of these limited edition cushions. The Wonder Woman X Missha cushion was not just a poor color match for my skin but I found it to be too drying and difficult to build coverage without my makeup looking like it’s caked on. The Doraemon X Apieu cushion was a better color match, but it looked patchy on my skin. Neither of these cushions compare to the cushions in the AmorePacific family. Whereas all the AP cushions I’ve tried (Iope, Laneige, and AmorePacific) release a thin layer of product when you press into them, the Apieu and Missha cushions give you way too much product and do not make for the thin, evenly distributed coverage that I’ve grown to expect from cushions. Needless to say, my expectations for the Etude House cushion were low. Luckily, this cushion far exceeded my expectations! Don’t get me wrong, it’s not AP quality and I definitely plan on stocking up on Laneige cushions (my favorite) during Black Friday sales, but this cushion is good enough that I don’t foresee any issues with using it up!
Moving on, here are the things I purchased:
-
Etude House X Sungsil Hwarang Sandcat Cushion Case
-
Etude House Precious Mineral Moist Any Cushion
-
Whamisa Organic Flowers Toner Refresh
-
Swanicoco Cell Repair One Step Fermentation Care Emulsion
-
Aromatica Calendula Juicy Cream
-
Calbee Honey Butter Chips
-
Too Cool For School Dinoplatz Magic Wand for Lip & Eye Make Up Remover
-
Innisfree Eco Paddle Hair Brush
-
Ameli Platlips in #928 Cold Blood
And now for pics!
This is the limited edition Sungsil Hwarang X Etude House Save Cushion! There were four animal options (Sandcat, Emperor Penguin, Siberian Weasel, & Bridled Nail-Tail Wallaby) and I chose Sandcat because the cushion is pink and because Sandcats are both adorable and badass! They are the smallest feral cat species, have insulated feet that allow them to walk on scorching hot desert sands and in snow, and hunt snakes!
I chose the Whamisa refresh toner instead of the original because I had used a few samples of the original in the past and did not love the smell or texture. The refresh one is (thankfully!) less viscous and smells better.
This is an emulsion full of fermented ingredients and snail secretion filtrate. It is surprisingly watery in a good way!
I have a very difficult time finding moisturizers I like but this one seemed nice. Specifically, I thought the idea of a juicy cream sounded nice plus this has ceramides, which I’m all about these days.
These are potato chips that taste like sweet, buttery rolls. Really strange but really addictive! I wish I had bought more than one bag.
I suck at applying eye makeup, which is a very inconvenient and embarrassing thing for a 26 year old to be bad at. These will definitely get a lot of use. Also, dinosaurs.
Recently I’ve been reading a lot about Japanese boxwood brushes. Wooden bristles are supposed to be superior to plastic ones because they do not cause static nor do they snap your hair. My hair isn’t very prone to snapping, but I did need a new brush and this one was way cheaper than the one I was lemming after. I love how lightweight this brush is!
I fell in love with this color after seeing this tumblr screenshot. The color doesn’t quite look the same on me, but it is very unique and unlike any of the colors I have in my bloated lipstick collection. The consistency isn’t the easiest to work unfortunately, but is manageable with a lip brush.
Lastly, here are the samples that TK sent me. The last time I ordered, they not only sent me a sample of the From Nature Age Treatment Essence, which I fell in love with (and later ordered), but they also sent me lemon ginseng candies! This time, their samples are much less impressive, but I do appreciate the Dinoplatz cc cream sample. Also, considering how much stuff I’ve purchased this month (I have 3 more, substantially smaller orders still coming my way) it’s probably for the best I didn’t receive any samples of things I’m super excited about!
Have you guys used any of these products? If so, tell me what you think of them!
I would love to read a review of the platlips, or a swatch even.

I love that Whamisa toner, it’s been really great for my skin. I’m curious which you call the original because I found the deep rich {I think?} toner at 50% off at the Whamisa site so I was going to take a break from the one I know works for me and try that just because of the price. I like the Aromatica shampoo I have so I’m curious to hear what you think about the cream after you’ve used it for a while.
If it makes you feel better, I’m older than 26 and have no idea about makeup…no idea. It confuses me but I want to know. 🙂

Ooh which Aromatica shampoo did you use? I’ve had my eye on a few of them! I just double checked and the original is the deep rich one. The texture just wasn’t what I expected but I’m contemplating giving it another try so I can get the pink bottle to go with my blue one lol.

Great haul. The sandcat case is too cute. FYI, Etude House is part of the AmorePacific family. I’m a little hesitant to try non-AP cushions, but I do have The Face Shop and Lalavesi cushions waiting to be opened. –Angela

Oh it is? No wonder! Do you happen to know if the refills are compatible with other AP cushions? Definitely going to test it when I get home. I guess this means I’m zero for two on non-AP cushions then. 😦

I don’t know about compatibility because I’ve never had an Etude cushion. I swear, AmorePacific reigns supreme for cushions. That said, one of /u/kindofstephen’s news digests said AP and LG had settled a lawsuit between them over cushion technology, with AP agreeing to share its cushion technology with LG, so I hope that means even more quality cushion choices.

Great haul! The Etude House was my firs cushion and I also liked that one. May get another once my other cushions run low. Also, I’d been curious about the Missha cushion so your comments about it are helpful.

Glad my Missha comments were useful! I’m still trying to get my hand on refill sponges (they’re sold out on Missha’s US site) so I can use the cushion!!
