Rakuten Order #2: Sunscreen Reorders, Salicylic Milk, and More!

Master of Life sent me this lovely coupon code a few weeks ago so I took the opportunity to restock some of my favorite sunscreens and pick up some new items! This post will be mostly pictures with some first impressions!

What I Ordered

Counterclockwise from from bottom left:

  • Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel X 2 – My favorite sunscreen! Full review with ingredients here
  • Mommy UV Mild Gel X 2 – I admit I don’t use this very frequently due to its long drying time (full review here). My partner prefers it though, due to its lack of alcohol
  • Mentholatum Perfect Lip Rose Pink Lip Balm
  • DHC Salicylic Face Milk
  • Pure Smile Peach Milk Essence Mask
  • Aroma Natura Natural Aroma Face Mask Geranium

Timeline and Costs

  • Order placed May 29th
  • Order shipped June 3rd with small packet SAL
  • Order received June 18th

In total, 21 days from ordering to my doorstep.

I paid a total of 3494 JPY, or roughly $28 USD, which IMO is a serious steal! The total cost of items ordered was 4298 JPY / 35 USD. Shipping and handling came out to be 1195 JPY / 10 USD. Promotion code saved me 2000 JPY / 16 USD.

The Haul!

perfect lip

Mentholatum Perfect Lip Rose Pink Lip Balm SPF 26 PA+++

I love Jack Black’s Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25 in Blacktea & Blackberry, which is the lip balm I’ve been using for the past couple of years, but it can neither change color nor provide PA+++ protection like this Mentholatum lip balm. This lip balm looks clear in the tube but turns a vibrant pink on the lips and has impressive staying power.

Master of Life is pretty good about providing ingredients of any SPF products it seems, and kindly provided the ingredients for this lip balm, which are as follows:

Cetyl ethylhexanoate, polyethylene, diisostearyl malic acid, lanolin, petrolatum, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, fatty (C10-30) (cholesteryl / Ranosuteriru), microcrystalline wax, olive oil, jojoba seed oil, vitamin A oil, Tetraisopalmitate ascorbyl, tocopherol acetate, 1.2-hexane diol, t- butylmethoxydibenzoylmethane, BHT, red 218

DHC Salicylic

DHC Salicylic Face Milk

This is the product I’m most excited about! I have had bad experiences with salicylic acid before so I very slowly and cautiously applied this to my face, armed and ready to wash it off if need be. Luckily, it didn’t produce any burning sensation! In fact, it didn’t even tingle. I’ve only been using this for three days so it is much too early to review, but my first impressions are very promising! My acne and PIE/PIH plagued cheeks tend to look red after cleaning but almost immediately after applying this, the redness seriously subsided. I have heard salicylic acid has anti-inflammatory powers but damn this stuff works fast! The main reason I bought this is because it appears Japan does not restrict salicylic acid usage in products to .5% as Korea does. This salicylic milk contains a whopping 2% salicylic acid and has a ph of 3.8, so it is quite a bit stronger than the BHA I currently use, which is exactly what I was looking for.

puresmile peach milk essence

Pure Smile Peach Milk Essence Mask

I threw this sheet mask into my order to max out on shipping. It’s super cheap and I love peaches.

aroma natura geranium sheet mask

Aroma Natura Natural Aroma Face Mask Geranium

Another sheet mask thrown in to max out on shipping. It’s already been put to good use! The mask is thicker than I’m used to and the essence has a gel-like consistency, making for a not-very-wet mask. I actually like the gel texture, but unfortunately it dried up much too quickly, only allowing for 15-20 minutes of mask time. The fit is also a bit weird, with a really small forehead area. It smells mostly like nothing and a little like roses, which I like.

I have had DHC acid products in my cart a few times but never took the plunge since I saw no reviews on japanese acids and also because I seem to have a never ending acid supply at home. I am looking forward to your review of it though!
